Who I Am

I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, a dog mom. I am a student, a teacher, a physical therapist. I am a best friend, a mentor, a runner, a lifter, a hiker and a paddle boarder. I am a human. I started my professional life as a high school science teacher in 2002 and went on to get my doctorate in physical therapy in 2011.

I discovered that there is this place that exists between health care and fitness. This is the place where most of us live, myself included. In this place we have job and family demands. We have fulfilling leisure activities. We have a desire for health, wellness and physical freedom. We find ourselves experiencing back pain or stiffness when we do our leisure activities and having to scale our workouts, or even give them up completely. I have heard thousands of times, “I just don’t do (fill in the blank) anymore because I pay for it the next day”.

A lot of people go to PT and it works fantastically to get them out of pain and even back to activity. As a PT I found myself advising people to “ease into it”, when asked how to return to beloved physical endeavors. I did not have the time or the resources to guide people back to their activities so that they would not end up back in my office in a year with the same problem.

Throughout my education, training and my own personal experiences, I have realized how to bring the value of fitness to people like me. It is important to me to be able to participate in all of the activities that bring me joy with the people that I love. It is important to me that my aging parents are able to continue to enjoy physical freedom with confidence. I have been given the tools to help people unlock their own physical potential in order to live a life they are inspired by.
